The Bikini Line – What Men should Know
By Muktu
My girlfriend recently told me all the work that goes into trimming her bikini line, and while I was not totally shocked, I did develop a newfound admiration for women who go thru the process (I admire women who don’t do it either, don’t get me wrong). I’ve always just assumed that women were happy to take care of their bikini lines in the same way men were fine with shaving their faces every morning. But what I’ve learned is that it takes women a lot more time and consideration. There is also a degree of anxiety and dread associated with the act. So being the good and super-handsome boyfriend that I am, I decided to learn a bit more about how women take care of their bikini regions. Actually, my girlfriend starting blabbing to me about it and I happened to remember some of it so here it is.
There are 3 main ways a woman can trim her Bikini Line:
Shaving – this is the cheapest method overall. Much more than simply slathering on shaving lotion and getting to work, some women have a ritual associated with the task and set aside up to an hour or more for the whole experience. It usually starts with a shower or bath because the skin needs to be soft first. Some women do it in the shower which is ok because I pee in there so I guess it evens out. Women have a wide variety of razor brands to choose from - but they all seem to be pink. I guess a pea-soup green razor would somehow be less effective. The shaving part is painless, but a bunch of undesirable things can happen afterwards such as redness, sensitivity, ingrown hairs, and bumps (whatever that means).
Waxing – there is a way to wax at home but I get the sense that it’s not recommended. The main word that seems to be associated with waxing is pain. Apparently it hurts a lot. As long as I don’t lose any major gambling debts, I should never have to experience waxing so I don’t know exactly how much it hurts. Many women choose to get their bikini waxes done professionally and a skilled aesthetician should be able to tear the strips quickly to minimize the pain. In this case, the expression “Slow and steady wins the race” is not applicable. There are three types of wax styles: the regular, the French, and the Brazilian. Without a proper visual aid, I still haven’t been able to determine exactly what a French wax constitutes but I do know for certain that a Brazilian wax gets rid of everything. The advantage of the wax is that it leaves the skin smoother and it last for up to a month. You'll be showing more so you might want to work out on the best exercise equipment you can find before going this route.
Laser Removal – When I was a kid, I always imagined lasers as being awesome beams of red light that shot out of space ships. I never imagined they could be used to cut lady hairs. But apparently they can and laser hair removal is an option for longer lasting sometimes semi-permanent hair removal. Obviously, you’d want to find a high quality professional to administer the procedure. My girlfriend says she will probably never opt for this method due to the cost but more importantly, the fear of having a laser zapping such a sensitive region.
Don't end up like me
Whichever method is used, there seems to be a lot of lotions, creams, and scented candles involved in bikini line grooming. It’s also a pretty unpleasant experience from what I gather. Women who read this hub will already know what I’m talking about. Maybe even some of the men will as well. In my research, I found out that some men (who I will from now on refer to as sissies) also wax their nether regions. Trimming is one thing, but a full on wax? I couldn’t even imagine it – and I guess that’s why women deserve credit for going thru these various processes. If I could use something like a Shark Steamer to zap off the hair I huess I would, but even then, the heat! The main point for guys is to be more sensitive to all the effort it takes your spouse to keep trim down there. If you don’t, she might call you a pig and force you to write a hub about bikini line hair removal.
