Find True Love – A Guide For Everyone

Are you looking to find true love? Of course you are, you’re not a hermit. Love is the reason that we do absolutely everything. Think about all the stuff that happens in the world – you can bet there is some degree of love associated with each act. For example:

War – love of country

Sports – love of competition

Politics – love of hearing one’s own voice

I could go on but let’s just agree that my main point has been made: Love is awesome, it pervades our lives, and there is nothing like finding love with another person (or several other persons if you’re Tiger Woods). The title of this article might be a bit misleading since no one has an exact formula for finding true love. Even the best dating tips won't have a complete answer. But if all goes well, after reading this article you will believe that true love exists and you might be one step closer to finding it if you haven’t already.

Disclaimer: If you’re over 45 and haven’t found true love already I don’t like your chances. Just kidding, you can have true love too, it will just be with a bunch of cats.

Everyone has their own definition of true love but there are some generalities that usually appear across the board.

A special gut feeling – When you find your true love it doesn’t necessarily have to involve love at first sight, but once you develop feelings for this person you should find yourself having sensations that you haven’t had before. The best way to describe it is this: imagine how your stomach would feel if you ate a bunch of hot peppers, salsa, and a granola bar filled with beans – that’s true love.

You complete me – You know the scene in Jerry McGuire when Tom Cruise says those famous lines, millions of women everywhere fainted when he said “You complete me”. So even though Tom Cruise is a nutbar, what he said was right. True love happens between two people who complement each other perfectly. However, it doesn’t mean that they can’t function without each other, because that’s called co-dependency and that’s a whole world of crazy you want no part of. The best kind of true love is between two people who are solid individuals on their own, but enjoy life a lot more in the company of the other.

Not just one – There is some debate whether or not we only find true love once in each of our lifetimes. Related to this is the question of whether or not we have one soulmate as people do in the best romantic movies. I prefer not to think that we are limited to one person who can be a true love or soulmate. Statistically speaking, chances are there is more than one single person in the world who could be our true love. Having said that, the romantic in me likes to think that although there are many people who could be our true love in this world, ideally we’ll only have one (or maybe two) true loves in our lives. Because really, if you have like three or four people who you would call true loves in your lifetime, are all of those people on par with each other? Isn’t one of them a little “truer” than the others. And what do you want with so many true loves anyways, stop being a greedy player. That 45 year old cat lady is sitting there with no true love and here you are hogging four of them !? Shame on you.

Ok now that we know how we want to define true love, let’s move onto finding it. Again, I’m not going to claim I know any secret formula that will work for you. Some advice you might get from other people about how to find true love may include such things as:

Online Dating – If done properly, online dating is a great way to meet a wide variety of people. If done improperly you may find yourself being stalked by a man who wants to wear your dresses so be careful.

Meeting thru friends – Ideally, your friends will have a good idea of who would suit you and sometimes they know a relative or co-worker who may fit the bill. If you don’t want to set yourself up online, have a trusted friend do it for you. If you have no trusted friends I sincerely doubt you’ll be able to find a person to love you, you horrible monster.

Take a class – No one will want you if you have no class. Har har har. But seriously, night school or part-time classes is a great way to meet people. And you won’t ever appear desperate because you can hide behind the excuse that you’re here to learn basket weaving or whatever the heck you like to do.

Ok, so those are some places where you can find possible candidates for true love. But now for the juicy part: The secret to finding true love. Are you ready for it?

As corny as it sounds, the way to find true love is to find yourself first. That means going out on dates, going to school, travelling, and having genuine experiences. In addition to experiencing places and things, you have to experience emotions as well. So you have to have crushes, get embarrassed, feel sorry for stupid mistakes, and even fall in love a couple times. Before you can find true love you have to know what you want, and you will never know what you want if you don’t rule out the things you don’t want. Does that make sense? Basically, you have to live a little and face a few hardships in addition to some happy times. True love is a special thing, and there is no guarantee that everyone in the world gets to experience it. So you have to earn it a little. The good thing is, you don’t really have to look for true love. When you’re ready it has a way of finding you and until it does you can improve your odds by living and learning to the fullest. And most importantly, never give up hope. And again, don’t smoke it’s very very bad for you.
